Cal Mestre

Our country house is located in the municipality of Avinyonet del Penedès. Our village is typical of this area and very old.

Right next to our country house is a Roman tower, proof that people have lived here for thousands of years.

It was built as a tomb and later used as a fortified watchtower.

A special building in Avinyonet is the Benedictine monastery located in the village of Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs.

The monastery dates back to the 11th century and has been declared a historical monument of national importance. The monastery is well preserved and has a beautiful cloister with carved pillars.

It is a ten-minute drive from the small town from which it takes its name.

Vineyards and Orchards

The monastery stands proudly above the vineyards and orchards of the plain and the forests of the hills.

It can be reached by car in ten minutes from Cal Mestre, or by bicycle.

A walk to it is also very beautiful. It takes approximately an hour. It takes less than an hour to explore vineyards, country lanes, and traditional wineries.

Along the way, you'll see the archaeological excavation of a special piece of our municipality's heritage: the ancient farmhouse of Font de la Canya.

This farm dates back to the 7th century BC. The excavations show that wine was already being cultivated here at that time. Font de la Canya has a small museum about viticulture in antiquity.

Up above, in our village, is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the entire Penedès region. Miravinya El Circell offers 360-degree views of the best this region has to offer.

Avinyonet del Penedès boasts a very active festival calendar. The local Christmas event, Les Gunyoles, is a fun tradition with locals reenacting the birth of Christ.
